Weekly Photo Challenge: Wrong

This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge: Wrong. As in, there’s something wrong here. Share a picture that means WRONG to you!

Vacation homes overlooking the island of Spinalonga, Crete, Greece, 2010

At first glance, this looks like a nice scene: vacation homes overlooking the island of Spinalonga, which features some old buildings that probably have historic significance. Tour boats and yachts dock there. The water is a gorgeous azure color. Lovely!

But the island was home to, among other things, a leper colony as recently as 1957. It seems wrong (and really weird) to luxuriate in a vacation home overlooking a place that was home to so much human suffering. Although I suppose you could look at it from a different viewpoint…the lepers who came to the island received food, water, and medical attention, and so it was a place of hope. Maybe? You decide.
