Every week Jake provides a theme for creative inspiration. Bloggers post their interpretations before the following Sunday, when Jake announces the next photo theme. Jake’s Sunday Post this week is Road (check out everyone’s interpretations of the challenge here).
I looked at the map, and driving along the southern coast of Crete looked totally doable. After the village of Mirtos, the main road turns into a secondary road, and after Tertsa, the secondary road becomes a dirt road. This dirt road was in really rough shape, however, and we turned around right about here, west of Tertsa, before some vital part rattled off the rental car. I’d go back in a second with a 4WD vehicle, though. The beaches were amazing, and almost all were deserted. We saw a couple of nudists camped out on the beach in a hut straight out of the Swiss Family Robinson tale. What fun to camp on a beach! In the top photo, you can see white awnings that protect plants from the blazing sun.
