Brazos Bend State Park, Texas

I’ve been to Houston several times, but it’s usually related to business travel and I have limited time to see fun things in the area. A few years ago, however, I had the opportunity to take a road trip out of the city and visit Brazos Bend State Park. I was REALLY excited to see alligators in the wild, but unfortunately they were all hiding from tourists on the day I visited. I did see a very cool alligator skeleton at the visitor’s center, as you’ll see from the photos below.

Even without alligator sightings, the park is a great travel destination. The ecosystem here is a mix of coastal plain and coastal prairie, with abundant water, so many species of plants, animals, and birds can be found within the park’s boundaries. You can learn more about nature at Brazos Bend here.
