We’re a family of animal lovers. Every single one of us. So on one of my trips to Germany to see my family, my cousin planned a visit to Gut Aiderbichl, an animal sanctuary near Salzburg that’s a dream come true for neglected, abandoned, and abused animals. During my trip to Croatia, I couldn’t help but notice the large numbers of cats out and about. We saw cats everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Although I am a dog person, I have to admit that the cats of Croatia have a way of charming a tourist with a camera (especially the upside-down kitty on the bench).

Terry took this photo of the Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado Springs on Sunday. The fire spread so quickly that this scene developed within about 45 minutes. His friends had 20 minutes to evacuate their home, and so he headed over to assist. They are still staying with family as of today, unable to return home yet as the fire continues to behave erratically and change direction.

This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge: Share a picture that is BLUE! Before I visited Lake Tahoe I was aware of an environmental campaign called Keep Tahoe Blue, so of course I expected the lake to be blue. But I’ll never forget catching my first glimpse of it.
